Broadway Revival of Jekyll & Hyde Switches Theaters, Announces Opening Date

The forthcoming Broadway revival of Jekyll & Hyde has set an opening date of April 18 at the Marquis Theatre, rather than the previously announced Richard Rodgers Theatre. The show will begin previews on April 5, starring Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis in the title role and Grammy nominee Deborah Cox as Lucy, directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun. Jekyll & Hyde is set for a 13-week limited engagement, through June 30.

No reason for the change in theaters has been announced. The Richard Rodgers is currently home to Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, starring Scarlett Johansson. The Marquis became available when Evita announced a closing date for January 26.

Jekyll & Hyde features music by Frank Wildhorn and book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse. In addition to Maroulis and Cox, the cast also features Teal Wicks (Wicked) as Emma Carew, Laird Mackintosh (Mary Poppins) as John Utterson, Richard White as Sir Danvers Carew and David Benoit as Bishop/Spider. Rounding out the cast are Stephen Mitchell Brown, Jerry Christakos, Dana Costello, Wendy Fox, Brian Gallagher, Sean Jenness, Mel Johnson Jr., James Judy, Ashley Loren, Courtney Markowitz, Aaron Ramey, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Rob Richardson, Blair Ross, Doug Storm, Haley Swindal and Jason Wooten.

The show arrives on Broadway after a preview engagement at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in California in September 2012 and a 25-week national tour. The original Broadway production opened on April 28, 1997, and earned four Tony nominations.
